A good jewellery stack looks effortless, but there's a simple formula behind it. Once you know it, you can build a look in a minute every morning.
1. Choose one hero piece
Start with the piece you love most, such as a pendant, a bold pair of earrings or a statement ring. Everything else should support it, not compete with it.
2. Keep the rest fine
Add two or three dainty pieces around your hero. Fine chains, slim bracelets and small studs fill out the look without making it feel heavy.
3. Space your necklaces
Leave about 2 inches between each necklace layer, for example 16, 18 and 20 inches. This keeps every piece visible and helps stop chains tangling. Read more in our guide on how to layer necklaces without the tangle.
4. Mix textures on your wrist
Pair a fine chain bracelet with a beaded one, or a bangle with a cuff. Different textures look interesting, while sticking to one or two metal tones keeps it calm.
5. Balance your hands
If one wrist is stacked, keep rings on that hand simple. If you're wearing several rings, let your bracelets be quieter.
Quick everyday formulas
- Work: small studs, one fine necklace and a single bracelet.
- Weekend: two layered necklaces and a mixed bracelet stack.
- Evening: drop earrings as the hero, with everything else kept minimal.
Frequently asked questions
Can I mix gold-tone and silver-tone jewellery?
Yes. Repeat each tone at least twice in your look so the mix feels deliberate.
How many pieces is too many?
If you're not sure, take one piece off. A stack usually looks best with one clear focus.
How do I keep my stack looking new?
Put jewellery on last and take it off first, and wipe it with a soft cloth after wearing. See our guide on caring for gold-tone jewellery.
